Louis Manzo Jr. — Former Battalion Chief with CCCFPD
An alumnus of Chabot College, Louis Manzo Jr. earned an arts and science degree in fire technology from the school and also completed relevant certification, including Emergency Scene Management, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, and S-404 Safety Officer. He joined Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CCCFPD) in 1990 and spent three decades with the California agency, managing as many as seven stations and overseeing budgets of up to $20 million. Louis Manzo Jr. spent his first 11 years with CCCFPD as a firefighter before being promoted to fire engineer.
As a firefighter, Louis Manzo Jr. operated type 1, type 2, and type 3 fire engines, as well as fire trucks and rescue apparatus. He also maintained equipment and ensured it was working at optimal performance. He also served as fire captain from 2006 to 2013, leading a six-person crew and acting as emergency scene commander.
Louis Manzo Jr. most recently served CCCFPD as battalion chief. In addition to station and budgetary oversight, he managed training programs and founded the Fire Engineers Academy and Fire Captains Academy to enhance onboarding effectiveness. He presently serves as lead supervisor for DC Technical Rescue in Sacramento. Outside of his professional pursuits, he is a member of the Crow Canyon Country Club’s Men’s Golf Club in Danville, California, and a coach with Danville Little League.
